The Arts Institutes ‘Campaign'

We teamed up with agency David & Goliath in LA to bring the visions of a few art students to life in this campaign for The Arts Institutes. For years this chain of private art colleges has featured the work of its students in their advertising, but with this campaign we were looking to plus the production value. Each of the spots in the campaign involved a fair amount of VFX work that would need to live organically within a natural environment. It all seemed fairly simple and something we could easily produce by handing directing and post production, but as we got into the details it was clear that we needed to spend a little time on the students’ artwork to make it broadcast ready. With the Warrior spot we needed to create a full world of CG from scratch, while keeping tremendous focus on the animation. In working with Jeremy Tabor’s sketches we did a touch more creature design to get the work to the right point, and moved our focus to rigging, texturizing and lighting. It was a great project for our CG department to really find their inner warrior, although some refuse to take off their orgg army horns when they come to the office now.
