Daniel Johnston ‘True Love'

After having Daniel Johnston do an art show at our London Vegas Gallery we became fast friends. His documentary, The Devil and Daniel Johnston, had gotten him a fair amount of attention and we wanted to help get his name out even more so we talked him into doing a music video. Taking one of his more well-known songs, “True Love Will Find You In The End”, we built a concept that realized some of the iconic images from his years of artwork. It was a great opportunity for us because we were able to experiment with a bunch of animation techniques while collaborating with an inspiring and modest artist. Daniel’s work has a great charm to it because of its analog style, but when he asked for a copy on VHS we realized it was more than just a passion for simple tools.
